Jonathan and I met on November 18th, 2001. My brother had been going to college with and telling us about this guy, and when Bryan's girlfriend (now wife) was ready to invite people to her sweet sixteen party, she included Bryan's new friend. He met us after church, in the sanctuary. I only recall shaking his hand, introducing myself, and thinking that he was kinda cute. ;-) Beyond that, I was really busy that day preparing for the party and shy around guys anyway, so I was pretty quiet. We all went out to eat and then several hours of preparations ensued, so I saw little more of him that afternoon. That evening, at the party, I was playing the part of photographer, taking a photo of the table where everyone I knew was sitting, including Jonathan. He then mentioned that someone was missing from the picture and had me sit down so he could get a photo with me in it. That made me a little flustered, since I wasn't accustomed to being singled out for attention from a young man. :-) Yet I felt comfortable around him..... That night a large group of us went to the park and then Amy's house. We sat around and talked all night. Through this time, though I was rarely speaking *to* Jonathan, I got a glimpse of who he was, and I liked him a lot. We had a long talk about Christianity and all of us left feeling strongly led to pray for this man! A week later, Jonathan joined us at church and accepted Christ, and I could no longer keep myself from liking him and thinking of him as more than a friend, though I tried very hard to do nothing to show him how I felt! :-) That came with time, and a good many more very long conversations, and eventually letters and phone calls. Now I am amazed that the man I'm going to marry is even the same person! He is a strong, passionate Christian with a desire to minister to the people around him, he's even more cute than I first thought :-), and I love him more than I ever imagined possible.
