Name: Jana Marie Baldridge

Age: 24 (July 30, 1981)

Life Verses: "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen." Ephesians 3:20 & 21

Brief testimony:
"His first command is that He alone secure my affections.
Nothing tangible can be held dear besides Him.
Such a command thrusts me into a walk of faith,
following a God, praying to a Father,
sacrificing for a Lover I cannot see."
~Jim Elliot~

There is such a wonder and wildness to life! I don't pretend that I welcome each moment with joy, but rather daily rely on faith that my God works all things for my good. I may not understand the circumstances, but I can fully trust the One who brings them.

I became a Christian in February of 1991. Growing up in a Christian family, with Christian grandparents, I knew the Bible well and constantly had good morals. But, of course, knowledge without application is useless! So one afternoon, I realized I wasn't sure that after death, I would be in heaven with Jesus. It was then I took to heart all I had heard over the years and asked Jesus to forgive me from my sins. This was through hearing a radio broadcast of Adventures in Odyssey and today, I still can't quite tear myself away from certain episodes! ("Someone to Watch Over Me" remains my ultimate favorite.)

In 1993, when I was almost 12, our family moved from Illinois to Wisconsin and being thrust into a new home, new location with new friends was overwhelming to me. I struggled through the year, trying to understand why everything had happened. God finally spoke to my heart -- rather, He had been speaking previously but I determined to live on my own strength -- and made me realize I had to give my life fully to Him. All my hopes, dreams, plans, thoughts, every inch of my life needed to be His in order for Him to work His greatest plans. It was either all or nothing. So I gave Him my all.

Life has never been the same since! And I would have it no other way.

Odds and Ends:
  • I work full time at the ALERT Academy in Big Sandy, Texas, being in the STEP department until June, then switching to housing/meals registration. I dearly love my crazy life of balancing family, friends and job -- I seek to make the most of every day in full glory to my Father.
  • I collect: tea cups, spoons (from places I've been) and thimbles (gifts from family/friends who have traveled).
  • I cannot bear to trash any old letters or e-mails; the majority of my back-up files on CD or collection of boxes in the closet consist of many, many pages of memories.
  • By nature, I'm an early bird. I love meeting the dawn down by the lake, and walking while memorizing Bible verses. But the more I exsist in this life, I realize the world is pretty opposite. Therefore, I'm learning to adjust to less sleep without losing my sanity.
